Enhancing Peace and Security in the Eastern Africa Region

Delegation from Bosnia Herzegovina Visits EASF

A delegation from Bosnia Herzegovina from the department of Peace Support Operations Training Centre (PSOTC) visited the Eastern Africa Standby Force Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya on 30th March 2017. The delegation held lengthy discussions with the

management of EASF about the progress the organization has been making.

The aim of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between EASF and PSOTC of Bosnia Herzegovina.

The Director of EASF, Amb. Issmail Chanfi, informed the guests that EASF is fully ready to deploy its forces in the region and beyond.  Specifically, all the necessary processes of employment and sustainment of the force in an AU/EASF mandated mission, with additional capability of relieving the deployed force within the mandated time lines are in place.

The head of delegation, Lt. Col Zoran Batarilo, emphasized that both organizations have the same mission which is to enhance peace and security in the whole world. He added that working together to build the capacity of personnel and create awareness on peace and security is of paramount importance. The discussions also shed light into strengths and gaps of EASF, providing a platform for further engagement in the future.

The PSOTC delegation of three from Bosnia Herzegovina was headed by Lt. Col Zoran Batarilo, Chief of Staff PSOTC, accompanied by Lt. Col Amra Berberovie and Mr Alen Talakic.
