EASF Conducts FTX 2017's Final Planning Conference

The Eastern African Standby Force opened the Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2017's Final Planning Conference on 25th September 2017 in Port Sudan, in the Republic of the Sudan.

The four-day conference, which is the last one in preparation for FTX 2017, is basically an evaluation exercise which will seek to point out any shortfalls in respect to previously scheduled benchmarks and address these before the Exercise is rolled out in November 2017.

Addressing the participants during the opening ceremony, the EASF Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, who has passionately engaged himself in making sure that all relevant details have been adequately addressed, thanked the Republic of the Sudan for providing the necessary foundation upon which the entire Exercise lies. He informed those present that FTX 2017 is one of the milestones of the regional peacekeeper, guided by the approved Strategic Plan 2015-2020.

The Guest of Honor who is the Deputy Chief of Naval Forces Staff for Operations and Training as well as the Commander of Red Sea Strategic Direction Maj. Gen. (Navy) PSC Magdi Saed Omer assured the participants that he and his team have been following and supporting the preparations from the time FTX 2017's Initial Planning Conference (IPC) was conducted a couple of months ago.
