Distinguished Visitors Day Successfully Concludes

Prior to the successful conclusion of the two weeks' Force Headquarters Training, the Eastern Africa Standby Force had earlier on tagged the Distinguished Visitors Day (DVD) tagged on the 20th day of June 2019.

In his keynote speech during the DVD, the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, underscored the importance of executing EASF's mandate which is defined through three facets, namely; the maintenance of the Full Operational Capability (FOC) gained in 2014, deployment and sustainment of EASF missions.

Dr. Bouh informed the audience that Force Headquarters Training was rolled out with the aim of enabling the participants understand AU/EASF Decision Making Processes, be able to produce operational plans using EASF operational planning process and to conduct operational briefs. The trainees would be placed on standby for the roles they have been playing in the practical part of the training should EASF be deployed during its period as the Continental Standby Force starting from July 1st to December 31st 2019.

The Director thanked the Friends and Partners of EASF particularly the United Kingdom, the Nordic Countries and the Federal Republic of Germany through GIZ for their continued support which has been instrumental in enhancing EASF's capacity building.

The DVD was attended by delegates from many parts of the world including EASF Member States.
