Enhancing Peace and Security in the Eastern Africa Region

EASF Leadership Holds High-Level Courtesy Call with Comoros President on Regional Peace and Security

Nairobi- Wednesday- 14 May 2026- The Outgoing Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force, Brigadier (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, together with the Incoming Director, Brigadier General Ronald Rwivanga, led an EASF delegation on a courtesy call to the President of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, and the Comorian Minister of Defence, Youssoufa Mohamed Ali.

The meeting provided an opportunity for cordial and constructive discussions on matters of mutual interest, including regional peace and security in East Africa, the evolving situation in the Middle East and its implications for global oil supply stability, as well as the continued importance of African-led solutions in addressing regional and international challenges. 

The delegation reaffirmed the commitment of the Eastern Africa Standby Force to strengthening regional cooperation, promoting sustainable peace, and enhancing collective security efforts across the continent.
