EASF Rolls Out Maritime Analysis Workshop
The Eastern Africa Standby Force launched a Maritime Analysis Workshop at the International Peace Support Training Center (IPSTC) in Karen Nairobi on 25th February 2019.
The workshop aims are developing diverse scenarios under which Humanitarian Action and Natural Disaster Support (HANDS) can be rolled out; this is in accordance with the EASF Strategic Plan 2015-2020. EASF seeks to develop HANDS Scenarios from a maritime perspective, conduct maritime PSO based training and establish a framework for the use of maritime forces and structures for non-military missions and tasks.
The workshop, which was officially opened by the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, will come to a close on 8th March 2019. In his keynote speech, Dr. Bouh welcomed the participants and trainers to the workshop. He thanked the Director of IPSTC as well as the Government of the United Kingdom (UK) for setting aside considerable resources to facilitate the running of the workshop.
The workshop has drawn participants from EASF Member states and has been fully funded by the Government of the United Kingdom.
