The workshop was further intended to build capacity for participants to enable them conduct Training Needs Assessments.
Nine of the ten member states of EASF were represented at the workshop and the activities were supported by the Police Programme for Africa funded by the German Foreign Office and implemented by GIZ.

The Training Needs Assessment Training was provided by two very experienced German Police Trainers who had served in several peace operations. They emphasized the importance of a detailed training system for future police peacekeepers which consists of a generic training (basic course), specialization training (in thematic police subject-matter areas) and specific pre-deployment training (prior to deployment to a concrete peace mission). Police officers selected for EASF peace support operations shall have undergone such training prior to their deployment in order to prepare and qualify them for a successful service delivery.
The workshop was closed by the Director of Interpol, Uganda Police Force who encouraged all present to work tirelessly to ensure that the EASF Region continues to enjoy the existing peace.
