EASF DIRECTOR PARTICIPATES IN MAWLID FESTIVAL IN THE UNION OF COMOROS.
Moroni, Union of Comoros, 25 August 2026, In a show of solidarity and respect for member states cultural and religious traditions, the Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), Brig. Gen.Ronald Rwivanga together with members of the EASF delegation participating in the CYCLON NOURA SIMULATION EXERCISE(SIMEX), participated in the Mawlid Festival in the Union of Comoros.
The celebration graced by the president of the union of Comoros H.E Azali Assoumani, is an important Islamic occasion commemorating the birth of Prophet Muhammad, and holds significant religious, cultural and social importance. The festival brings together communities, religious leaders, government officials and other stakeholders in prayer, reflection, fellowship and thanksgiving.
The Festival also promotes values of unity, peace, compassion, solidarity and social cohesion, values that resonate strongly with EASF’s broader mandate and commitment to contributing to peace, security and stability across the Eastern Africa region.
The participation of the EASF Director and delegation provided an opportunity to strengthen the cordial relations between EASF and the Union of Comoros, while reaffirming the Organization appreciation of the country’s rich cultural and religious heritage.
