EASF Director Hosts Delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye to Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya –24^th June 2026 – The Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) today received a delegation from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye to Kenya during a courtesy visit to the EASF Secretariat in Nairobi.The delegation was led by H.E. Yusuf Ziya Ayrim, Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye to Kenya, and included Defence Attaché Capt. N. Seher Odabas. The visit provided an opportunity for both parties to reaffirm their longstanding partnership and explore avenues for enhanced collaboration in support of regional peace and security.

During the discussions, the Director highlighted the important role of strategic partnerships in strengthening EASF’s capacity to respond to emerging security challenges within the Eastern Africa region. The meeting focused on key areas of cooperation, including capacity building, institutional development, and support for the operationalization of the Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Support (HANDS) framework.

The two sides also exchanged views on efforts to prevent and counter violent extremism and terrorism, recognizing the importance of coordinated regional and international approaches to addressing evolving security threats. Discussions underscored the value of continued knowledge sharing, technical cooperation, and joint initiatives aimed at enhancing regional stability.

The Turkish delegation reaffirmed Türkiye’s commitment to its partnership with EASF and expressed its readiness to continue supporting initiatives that contribute to peace, security, and resilience in the region. The delegation also conveyed its congratulations and best wishes to the Director as he assumes leadership of the organization.

The visit reflects the strong and growing cooperation between EASF and the Republic of Türkiye in advancing shared peace and security objectives.
