Director and His Team Call on Norwegian Ambassador (2)

The EASF Director Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa together with senior officials from the Secretariat called on Ambassador Gunnar Andreas Holm of the Norwegian Embassy in Nairobi, on 6th December 2021.

During the meeting, Brig Gen Fayisa thanked the Norwegian Government for the support it has been according the Standby Force ever since its inception. This support, which comes in form of financial and technical assistance, plays a major role in boosting EASF's capacity building activities through training. The Standby Force has a mandate to train and maintain a critical mass which can be deployed within clearly defined time-lines depending on the nature of the peace-keeping mission at hand.

Brig Gen Fayisa also briefed Ambassador Holm on the current status of the organization, including all efforts being undertaken to maintain the Full Operational Capability (FOC) status which EASF acquired in 2014.

During the meeting, the Director was accompanied by the Head of Administration and Finance, Ms. Lina Hoareau, the Head of Peace Operations' Department, Brig Gen Henry Isoke, and the Military Assistant, Lt Col Boniface Chomba.
