EASF Conducts Civilian Roster Verification Exercise in Kenya

The event, attended by key officials, was graced by the Acting Director General of the Foreign Service Academy, Ambassador Paul Ndungu, who emphasized the importance of peace in Africa's development. "By joining EASF, you contribute to Africa’s diplomatic efforts to promote peace, which is vital for regional growth in sectors such as education, health, and overall development," said Ndungu.

He also encouraged the roster members to remain prepared for deployment at any time, reinforcing the readiness required for future missions. 

Brigadier (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, EASF Director, highlighted the critical role of civilians in peace support operations, stating that their skilled contributions complement military and police efforts. He stressed the need for a well-structured civilian roster to ensure that qualified personnel are available for peacekeeping, humanitarian operations, and post-conflict reconstruction. "This exercise strengthens our civilian component, addressing challenges and adopting best practices for future peace missions," said Brigadier Njema. 

Dr. Leah Barasa, Head of the Civilian Component, expressed gratitude to the Kenyan government for hosting the event and to the guest of honor for their support. She also acknowledged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly the national focal point Ms. Victoria Rotich, for facilitating the event. 

The exercise focused on the professional management of the EASF/ASC civilian database, ensuring the readiness of qualified experts for deployment in future peace support operations. The roster recruitment and verification process follows a stringent sequence to maintain high standards and quality assurance for future peace missions. 

This initiative reaffirms EASF’s commitment to the African Union's vision of silencing the guns and fostering peace and stability in the region.
