H. E. Omar Al Bashir Graces EASF Policy Organs Meeting

H. E. Omar Al-Bashir, President of  the Republic of Sudan, opened the 13th Extra-ordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers of Defence and Security of the Eastern Africa region.

In his opening statement, Al Bashir, who was the Guest of Honour, noted that the efforts being taken by EASF to promote security in the region, will provide hope to the people of the continent because it will give headway in finding out the roots of conflict and finding solutions to the problems in the continent.  [Statement]

During this meeting, Ministers of Defence and Security of EASF region deliberated on various policy issues necessary to move the organization to the deployment phase after attaining Full Operational Capability (FOC) in December 2014.

The meeting was attended by Ministers and Chiefs of Defence and their representatives of all the ten Member States who concluded with key decisions regarding operationalization.
