EASF Welcomes New Staff at the Secretariat

The Eastern Africa Standby Force welcomed three officers at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi, on 19th May 2020. These officers have now taken up various positions in line with the approved Rotation Matrix.

In his maiden speech during the welcoming ceremony attended by members of staff, the new Director, Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa thanked his predecessor for his contributions towards the development of the Standby Force to its current state. He expressed the conviction that the current progressive teamwork, driven by selfless contributions by various actors, will see EASF make tremendous strides in the right direction in the coming couple of years. The new Director urged members of staff to observe guidelines given by health officials, in the collective responsibility of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Brig. Gen. Fayisa wished Dr. Bouh a successful progression along his career path, remaining a true ambassador of EASF as has been over the years.

In his farewell speech, Dr. Bouh thanked all players in the peace and security arena who have contributed towards the advancement of the Standby Force in diverse ways over the years. He briefly outlined some of the milestones EASF has achieved since 2017 and reiterated his readiness and desire to offer his experiences in support of EASF's aspirations, should he be required to do the same at any given time.

Also joining the regional peacekeeper's workforce on the same day was the Civilian Rostering and Coordination Officer, Mr. Michael Charlotte from the Republic of Seychelles. Major Gaudencia Githinji from the Kenya Airforce is the new Administration Officer based at the EASF Secretariat.
