EASF Director's Courtesy Call on Turkish Ambassador

The Director of EASF Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh paid a courtesy call to Turkish Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Amb. Ahmet Cemil Miroglu on Tuesday 5th March 2019.

The meeting focused on issues of collaboration in ensuring peace and security in the Eastern Africa Region. The Director briefed the Ambassador on EASF state of affairs and it's future projections. He also expressed his gratitude to the government and the people of Turkey for their earlier donation to EASF which was used towards capacity building and beefing up the Peace Fund.

Dr. Bouh thanked the hosts for their warm and cordial relations with EASF Member States specifically their assistance to Somalia and the newly opened Turkish embassy in Burundi. The Director further urged the ambassador to ensure Turkey uses it's diplomatic leverage in the region to put its thumb print in the regional peace and security as a contribution to global peace.

Amb. Ahmet Cemil Miroglu expressed his country's willingness to partner with EASF in enhancing capacity building and specifically offered technical advise on setting up maritime surveillance system.

During the meeting, the Ambassador was accompanied by the Defence Attache Navy Captain Mehmet Silivri while the Director's team comprised the Internal Auditor Col Dr Mohamed Shumo and Military Assistant Lt Col Edward Onyango.
