EASF Launches Civilian Roster Recruitment and Verification in Ethiopia

The Eastern African Standby Force (EASF) has launched the African Standby Capacity (ASC) roster identification, recruitment and verification exercise in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, at the EASF Force Headquarters in Addis Ababa, today, 11 April 2022.

The event was opened officially by the guest of honor representing the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Brig Gen Bulti Tadesse, Director of Foreign Affairs Directorate at Ethiopian Defence Ministry.

The opening ceremony was attended by EASF Force Commander, Brig Gen Vincent Gatama, who also delivered remarks at the opening ceremony. In his remarks, the Force Commander expressed his gratitude and that of EASF to the Ethiopian Government for having accepted to host the exercise and also for the warm hospitality accorded to the EASF team. The head of EASF Civilian Component, Mr. Kedir Ababulgu Ali, also delivered his remarks at the opening ceremony.

The aim of the exercise is to identify, recruit, interview, validate and roster civilian experts to the ASC database, verify their suitability through AU-mandated interviews, and promote the work of the National Focal Points within member states. The four-day exercise is expected to come to an end on 14 April 2022.
