EASF Director Visit to The Republic of Rwanda

Briefing Session to the Chairpersons of EASF Policy Organs

On 25th March, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Rwanda, Hon Juvenal Marizamunda, together with the Rwanda Defence Force Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Muganga Mubarakh, received the Director of Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) Secretariat, Brig (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, accompanied by the Chairperson of the Friends of EASF, Col Jens Lindvig.

The visit aimed to brief the Minister and the CDS, as the current Chairperson of the EASF Council of Ministers (CoM) and Committee of the Eastern Africa Chiefs of Defence Staff (EACDS) respectively, on the EASF Operations, planned activities for 2024 and their implementation progress.

Courtesy Call on the Rwandan Minister In-Charge of Emergency Management

The Director of EASF Secretariat paid a Courtesy Call on the Minister in charge of Emergency Management of the Republic of Rwanda, Hon Maj Gen (Rtd) Albert Murasira. They discussed areas of collaboration in disaster preparedness, response, and humanitarian interventions. EASF has worked since 2021 to incorporate Humanitarian Action and Natural disasters (HANDS) as part of its Mandate emphasizing the importance of working towards building a safer, more resilient Eastern African Region.
