The National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI) representatives met with the EASF EOM ahead of polling day tomorrow for the 6th general election in Ethiopia.

The NDI & IRI have been on the ground and following the preparation and meeting with key stakeholders involved in the process. The EASF mission has already deployed 13 teams in six regions of the country and, in a press statement issued yesterday, the EASF mission is calling on voters to carry out their civic duty in a calm and peaceful manner. EASF urges voters in places where voting will not take place to uphold calm and peaceful environment and maintain the engagement with stakeholders in particular the national election commission in ensuring that the political rights of all Ethiopians are respected. EASF Election Observer Mission is appealing to the citizens to maintain peace, adherence to the rule of law, and to promote respect and tolerance throughout the elections.

A joint pre-assessment report by NDI and IRI was released last week. The EASF EOM will also issue a preliminary statement on 22nd June.
