The African Union Border Day is an annual commemoration with the aim of addressing the persistence lack of delimitation and demarcation of African boundaries that gives rise to ‘undefined zones’, to facilitate and support the delimitation and demarcation of African boundaries and to develop cross-border initiatives among States. ‘The year of refugees, returnees, and internally displaced persons’ being the theme for the AU this year, goes hand in hand with celebration of the ‘African Border Day’.
