EASF Launches ASC Roster Recruitment and Verification in Djibouti

Category: News

An EASF team led by the Head of the Civilian Component, Mr. Kedir Ababulgu is in Djibouti for a five-day working visit, from 2nd to 5th February 2022, to undertake an African Standby Capacity (ASC) Roster recruitment exercise.

This is the first Roster Recruitment and Verification exercise for the new year 2022.

The ASC provides civilian response capacity for Peace Support Operations (PSOs) under the broad African Peace and Security Architecture (APSA), more specifically, the African Standby Force.

The ASC Roster is designed to make the right person available at the right time in the right place whilst utilizing selection criteria to match recruitment, training and deployment needs. This approach ensures capacity-building resources are used in a targeted manner to guarantee predictability of trained civilians ready for rapid deployment in PSOs. This process also ensures eligible experts are adequately prepared prior for PSO deployment.

The Guest of Honor at the launch of the exercise, representing the Republic of Djibouti, was Ambassador Guelleh Idriss OMAR who officially launched the activity alongside the representative of the Director of EASF, the Head of the Civilian Component, Mr. Kedir Ababulgu and the Civilian National Focal Point for Djibouti, Mr. Iltireh Farah Ibrahim.

The other members who comprised the EASF Team included, Ms. Irene Kingori, from the Finance and Administration Department, Ms. Octavia Rose, the Planning, Training and Evaluation Officer, Mr. Michael Charlette, the Rostering and Coordination Officer and Ms. Fridah Mungania, from the Civilian Component.

During the exercise, the EASF team will provide details about EASF as well as the ASC Rosters and facilitate the participants’ registration and understanding of the process. This will be followed by three days of interviews of the selected candidates.
