EASF Takes Part in MOD Discussions

The Eastern African Standby Force took part in the Ministry of Defence's Annual New Year Greetings & Ambassadors' Round Table discussions at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi on 20th February 2019.

During the discussions, EASF was represented by the Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh.

The discussions brought together panelists and participants including Ambassadors/High Commissioners, Defence Attaches, Government officials, representatives from the United Nations, and Kenya Defence Forces' partners in environment among others. The meeting was held under the banner, 'Environment & Security: Protecting our Environment, Securing our Communities.'

The discussions centered on experiences and initiatives in environmental conservation, progress made by the KDF's Environmental Soldier Programme, its challenges and successes registered so far.

The meeting was officially opened by the Cabinet Secretary for Defence of the Republic of Kenya Ambassador Raychelle Omamo accompanieed by the Kenya Chief of Defence Forces, General Samson Mwathethe.
