Collaborative Meeting on Early Warning Systems Held in Comoros

Moroni, Comoros — A significant collaborative meeting focused on early warning systems was held in Moroni from August 28 to 30, 2024. The event brought together a delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), led by Brigadier General Domitlen Kabisa, head of the Peace Operations Department, and representatives from various Comorian Agencies involved in early warning initiatives.

The guest of Honor, Colonel Abdallah Rafick Soilihi, Director General of Civil Security in Comoros, praised the partnership between the EASF Early Warning System and local agencies. He emphasized that this collaboration is crucial for enhancing capabilities in detecting and responding to emerging threats. "By strengthening the ties between our institutions, we can facilitate conflict prevention and resolution, areas where unity and coordination are essential," he stated.

Brigadier General Kabisa highlighted the importance of enhancing collaboration between early warning systems. "This will facilitate the detection of early signs of threats and ensure that appropriate responses are undertaken to mitigate potential destruction," he said.

He further noted that the EASF is committed to institutionalizing early warning and preventive measures and collaborating with member states to identify threats before they escalate. "We aim to provide advisory guidance to decision-makers so they can act swiftly to prevent violence," he added.

Brig Gen. Kabisa acknowledged the support received from the African Peace & Security Architecture (APSA), expressing gratitude to the African Union for its ongoing assistance in strengthening the early warning capacity within EASF Staff.
