EASF Policy Organs Meetings Set to Start on 14th January

The 23rd Ordinary Session of the Policy Organs Meetings of the Eastern Africa Standby Force will take place between 14th and 18th January 2018 in the Republic of Djibouti.

The EASF Policy Organs Meetings provide guidance for executing EASF affairs at the policy and management levels. The first session is usually the Experts Working Group (EWG) Meeting.  EASF EWG consists of technical experts who discuss and critically analyze operational and budget plans drawn by the Secretariat and its Components.

The EWG then makes recommendations for consideration by the Chiefs of Defence and Security of the Eastern Africa region.  The Chiefs thereafter examine the recommendations critically.

The highest level in this series of meetings is the Council of Ministers for Defence and Security, who provide high-level guidance and make final decisions on the matters on the table.
