EASF Convenes Experts’ Working Group Meeting

The EASF Experts' Working Group (EWG) meeting was officially opened today Monday 28th September, 2020 at the EASF’s Logistics’ Base in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

It was the Guest of Honour, Maj. Gen. Habtamu Tilahun from the office of the Ministry of Defence and Foreign Relations of the Federal Republic of Ethiopia who officially opened the EWG meeting. In his address to the delegates, Maj. Gen. Habtamu pointed out the great achievements of EASF particularly, in the discharge of its mandate in promoting peace in the region. He also emphasized on the importance of the EWG meeting in deliberating on key documents tabled for discussion during the meeting.

In his welcoming remarks, the Chairperson of EASF Experts' Working Group, Maj. Moudjib-Rahmane Adaine highlighted the expected outcomes and deliverables of the EWG meeting as well as the need for all members present to fully engage in the process.
 
On his part, the Director of EASF Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa informed the meeting that the Secretariat has worked tirelessly in producing the key documents tabled for discussion during the meeting. He also thanked the EASF Member States for their valuable inputs. With the exception of Seychelles, Experts from all EASF Member States are attending the meeting.
 
The week-long meeting is organized in line with EASF’s regulations and in preparation for the Policy Organs' meetings expected to be conducted in a few weeks from now.
