EASF Concludes Panel of Elders Induction Workshop

The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) concluded its three-day Panel of Elders Induction Workshop on 29 April 2022. The Guest of Honor at the Closing Ceremony was the Chairperson of the EASF Council of Ministers of Defence and Security, H.E. Dr Abraham Belay, who is also the Minister of Defence of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

In his closing remarks, the guest of honour called upon the EASF Member States to play their indispensable role in supporting EASF by the provision of technical, financial, human and material resources. He further urged the Member States to work closely with the Secretariat and the newly formed Panel of Elders.

The Director of the EASF Secretariat, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Feyissa delivered a vote of thanks at the Closing Ceremony. He thanked the participants for the dedication they demonstrated in the deliberations during the three-day workshop. He also commended the Host Nation, the African Union and the Government of Denmark for their various support in making the workshop a success.

The Chairperson of the African Union Panel of the Wise, H.E. Domitien Ndayizeye, as well as the Chairperson of the newly formed EASF Panel of the Elders, H.E. Sylvestre Ntibantunganya, also delivered remarks during the closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony was held at the Headquarters of the Ethiopian Ministry of Defence in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
