African Union Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes of Government

AU conducted its Extraordinary Summit on Terrorism and Unconstitutional Changes (UCG) in Africa on 28 May 2022, in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. The objective of the summit was to assess persistent threats, evaluate current response mechanisms, and decide on the specific actions and measures necessary to strengthen the collective security of Member States facing terrorism and violent extremism. The objective of the summit also includes, among other issues, deliberation on the recommendations in the Accra Declaration on Unconstitutional Changes of Government in Africa emanating from the AU Reflection Forum, held on 15-17 March 2022 in Accra, Ghana.

The Malabo Extraordinary Summit of AU included several events and meetings that took place from 25- 28 May 2002.

The Director of Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa, participated in the Summit.
