IMPC Kicks off in Khartoum

The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) kicked off the Integrated Mission Planning Course (IMPC) in Khartoum, Sudan, today 29 August 2022. The objective of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to plan a multidimensional peace support mission that engages the military, police and civilians.

The course was launched officially by the Guest of Honor, H.E. Maj Gen (PSC) Malik Eltayeb Khougali Elnil, Director of General Training Directorate of the Sudanese Ministry of Defense. In his opening remarks, the Guest of Honor welcomed the participants and organizers of the course to Khartoum and wished them a pleasant stay in Khartoum. He requested the participants to share the knowledge, skills and experience they acquire during the Integrated Mission Planning Course. He thanked the various partners of EASF, including the African Union, for their support. He also commended the EASF Member States for sending participants to this very important course.

Prior to the Guest of Honor, the EASF representative Maj Abdoulaziz Djama Ahmed, Chief J6 at the EASF PLANELM, made remarks on behalf of the EASF Director, Brig Gen Getachew Shiferaw Feyissa. He thanked the Government and People of the Republic of Sudan for hosting the course. He reiterated EASF’s commitment to engage in capacity building and that the IMPC is part of this concerted effort.

The Lead Facilitator of the course, Cap Betty Wapuswa Kakai from Uganda Defense Forces, also addressed the participants. In her address, she urged the participants to pay serious attention to the course in order to get maximum benefits.

22 participants drawn from EASF Member States and EASF structures are in attendance of the IMPC, which will be underway for ten days. The course is expected to come to conclusion on 9 September 2022.
