EASF Hosts African Union's After Action Review Workshop

A three-days’ African Union’s After Action Review (AAR) Workshop exploring the Continental Logistics Exercise 2018 (LOGEX2018) which was conducted in September started on 6th November 2018 at the Kenya Commercial Bank Leadership Center in Nairobi, Kenya.

The LOGEX 2018 was held in Douala, in the Republic of Cameroon from 14th to 21st September 2018.

The aim of AAR workshop is to identify the strengths and gaps of LOGEX 2018. The workshop will thereafter recommend the conduct of a series of progressive training activities that will enhance the continental logistics capabilities and maintain operational readiness as well as interoperability during Peace Support Operations.

During the opening ceremony, the Director of EASF Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh expressed his gratitude to the African Union for choosing to host the AAR workshop in Nairobi. Dr. Bouh underlined the need for continuous capacity building activities which ensure that peace keepers on the continent are ready at all times.

In his keynote speech, the representative of African Union Major General Nakibus Lakara informed the participants that the continental LOGEX 2018 had several senior African resource managers and logisticians who contributed their best experiences for the success of the concluded exercise. Maj Gen Lakara expressed his optimism that the recommendations of the workshop would play an important role in pursuit of AU’s vision to contribute to continental peace, prevent and manage conflicts, resolve crisis effectively and to enhance integration of the peace keeping forces.
