EASF Welcomes New Director

EASF has received a new Director, Ambassador Issimail Chanfi, who takes over from Maj Gen Cyrille Ndayirukiye.

The handover ceremony took place at the EASF Secretariat in Karen Nairobi on 26th Mar 2014 and was attended by among others, Maj Gen S W Nandwa, the Commandant of the Kenya Defence Staff College, Col S N Muthui of the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) who represented the Director,  Col Soren Knudsen, Chairperson of the Friends of EASF, Mr Ludwig Kirchner, the GIZ/EASFCOM Team Leader, and EASF staff.

Addressing EASF staff, Amb Chanfi, a Comoros national, expressed his gratitude to his Government, the Committee of Eastern Africa Chiefs of Defence Staff and the Council of Ministers of Defence of the Eastern Africa region for granting him the opportunity to serve this very important organisation for the next three years.  He pledged his commitment to ensure that EASF moves to higher level of operation in its effort to execute its mandate of enhancing peace and security in the region.
