Officers from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) joined other participating nations in the Exercise Cutlass Express 2013 which took place from 11th to 18th Nov 2013.
EASF Staff Management Retreat
EASF conducted a Management Staff retreat in Nairobi from 4th to 8th November 2013. In his opening statement, Maj Gen (rtd) Cyrille Ndayirukiye, Director of EASFCOM, emphasized the importance of the retreat in helping to address issues related to management of EASF.
Military Training of Trainers Course
As part of the preparations for the planned Full Operational Capability (FOC) in 2015, EASF conducted a Training of Trainers Course for Military in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from October 28th to 1st November 2013.
Preparation and Review of 2014 Activity Plan
EASF convened a meeting to develop an activity plan for 2014 from 7th to 9th October 2013 in Nairobi, Kenya. The session aimed to evaluate the achievements of EASF in the past ten years, to identify operational gaps and determine ways to effectively implement the plan as stipulated in the African Peace Support Architecture and ASF Road map III. The meeting also identified specific activities to help meet Full Operational Capability (FOC) by 2015.
EASF Red Cross Visit
Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) presents its donations to help the victims of the Westgate Mall attack through the Kenya Red Cross on Sept 27 2013.EASFCOM recognizes and commends the great efforts and coordination by the Kenya Red Cross during the rescue operations. Indeed the timely intervention helped save many lives and ameliorated the suffering of those injured.
Policy Organs Meetings - August 2013
EASF conducted Policy Organs Meetings in August 2013 in Nairobi, Kenya.
These meetings were conducted in three sessions. Experts Working Group (EWG) meeting took place from 5th – 7th August 2013. Here, EASF Experts brainstormed on issues regarding the current EASF structures and strategies to sustain EASF beyond 2015 among other issues.
