African Standby Capacity Annual Coordination Meeting Underway

African Standby Capacity Annual Coordination Meeting is underway in Lusaka, Zambia, from 27-29 June 2022. The meeting was coordinated by personnel from the African Union, and chaired by the Chief of the Capacity Development Unit, Mr. Eustace Chiwombe.

The meeting involves deliberations with central focus on the civilian component of the regional African Standby Forces. The main area of discussion is the link between rostering, training and deployment. AU guided the participants on policies and standards with regard to African Standby Capacity (ASC) database and provided a platform for in-depth discussions of same. Challenges and recommendations were also considered. All RECs and RMs had been invited but representation was mainly from ECOWAS, EASF, IPSTC and Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC).

EASF was represented by the Head of Civilian Component, Mr. Kedir Ababulgu Ali, Civilian Planning, Training & Evaluation Officer, Ms. Octavia Rose, and HR Officer, Ms. Irene Kingori.
