The Civilian Component Continues its Roster Verification Exercise

The Civilian Component of the Eastern Africa Standby Force carried out a personnel verification exercise during the 23rd week of 2017 in Khartoum, Sudan. The three day activity aimed

at assessing the suitability and capacity of personnel who have been trained for Peace Support Operations (PSO) by EASF or it's affiliate training centers in the region.

The opening of the verification exercise was graced by Ambassador Mohamed Eisa from the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In his keynote speech, Ambassador Eisa underlined the importance of unconditional cooperation among EASF Members States in order to minimize possibilities of conflicts within the region. He reassured the EASF staff present led by the Head of Civilian Component Mr. Steven Lalande that Sudan remains commited to maintenance of stability in the region and is confident that current efforts in eradication of terrorism and extremism will yield the desired results.

The exercise saw 54 PSO trained civilians from Sudan being evaluated in accordance with the regional peacekeeper's rostering principles. A substantive number of those interviewed will join the African Standby Capacity; yet another milestone which consolidates EASF's leading role in providing the Continental Standby Force with highly trained personnel ready and willing to roll out their acquired skills in peace keeping activities.
