EASF Policy Organs Meetings to Take Place in Kigali, Rwanda

The 24th Ordinary Session of the Policy Organs Meetings of the Eastern Africa Standby Force will take place between 24th and 27th July 2018 in Kigali, Rwanda.

The EASF Policy Organs Meetings provide guidance for executing EASF affairs at the policy and management levels. The first session is usually the Experts Working Group (EWG) Meeting.  EASF EWG consists of technical experts who discuss and critically analyze operational and budget plans drawn by the Secretariat and its Components.

The EWG then makes recommendations for consideration by the Chiefs of Defence and Security of the Eastern Africa region.  The Chiefs thereafter examine the recommendations critically.

The highest level in this series of meetings is the Council of Ministers for Defence and Security, who provide high-level guidance and make final decisions on the matters on the table.
