Amb Omamo's Special Appreciation to Director

Gift for DirectorDefence Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Raychelle Omamo hosted a farewell session in Honour of Ambassador Issimail Chanfi, the outgoing Director of EASF at the International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) on 12th April 2017.

Amb Chanfi from Union of Comoros has been head of EASF for three years since 2014. Amb Omamo congratulated the Director for his exemplary performance during his three-year tenure. She reflected on a number of achievements of EASF which include the attainment of Full Operational Capability (FOC) in 2014, establishment of the Peace Fund  and integration of the three components of the Force, namely military, police and civilian. She also commended him for having convened two summits during his three years of service.

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Samson Mwathethe also congratulated Amb Chanfi for steering the regional peace keeping force in the right direction. The CDF highlighted some of the achievements of EASF including acquiring a state of the art Mission Start-up Kit for rapid deployable and self-sustaining Forward Force Headquarters as well as consolidation of the Legal Framework.

Both the CS and the CDF assured the incoming Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh from Republic of Djibouti of full support. The position of the Director is held on a rotational basis by different member states which are Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda.

Present during the ceremony were the Defence Principal Secretary Torome Saitoti, Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant Gen Joseph Kasaon, Commander of the Kenya Army Lt. Gen Robert Kibochi, Her Excellency Amb Mette Knudsen of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet among other senior KDF Officers and invited guests.
