“Reinvigorate the EASF Civilian Component”

EASF gathers its Civilian National Focal Points (CNFP) in Bujumbura, Burundi, from 5 th to 9 th December,2022 to “reinvigorate the Civilian Component.” The aim of this workshop is to familiarize the Member States CNFP with the planned civilian activities, in particular roster verification and their role in ensuringthat a functional civilian database is in place as well as to enhance integration and team work.

EASF verified Member States pledged capabilities

An Eastern African Standby Force delegation visited Kampala, from 27th to 29th November, for the verification of the Pledged Capabilities by the Republic of Uganda. The team was led by EASF Force Commander, Brig Gen Vincent Gatama, and its mission aims to confirm the commitment of Uganda to contribute, maintain and sustain the fully operational and multidimensional integrated standby force ready to respond to emerging crisis and threats in the region.

Child Protection Training of Trainers

From 15th to 25th November 2022, Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) conducted a ten-day child protection ‘Training of Trainers’ course, at Humanitarian Peace Support School in Nairobi, Kenya. Led by the EASF Police Component and sponsored by Royal Kingdom of Denmark, 24 Police Regional facilitators participated in this training.

More instructors certified on Integrated Mission Planning

A group of nineteen instructors from Comoros, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Seychelles, Sudan, South Sudan, Uganda have completed the Eastern Africa Instructors Certification Course, which was held from 13 to 23 November at the Peace and Conflict Studies School, Nairobi, Kenya.
