EOM Induction Training Concludes
Prior to rolling out an observer mission for national elections, it is imperative that the team selected to carry out this responsibility gets well acquainted with the host country's electoral laws, the Elections' Management Body (EMB), cultures, religions, and
many other aspects that have a direct or indirect influence on the conduct of elections.
These are some of the factors that played a key role in EASF's decision to roll out a 2-days induction training at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi on 15th June 2021. The training's target audience were members of staff who are to be deployed in the EASF's Elections' Observer Mission (EOM) to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Officially opening the training on behalf of the Director Brig. Gen. Getachew Fayisa, was the Head of Peace Operations' Department, Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke. Brig. Gen. Isoke was accompanied by the Head of Administration and Finance, who is also the Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Lina Peggy Hoareau.
The induction training provides a solid foundation upon which an intensive Pre-Deployment training will be launched, once the team sets foot on Ethiopian soil. Using the Rapid Deployment Kits which were recently handed over to EASF by the Government of the Royal Kingdom of Denmark, the mission specialists are adequately equipped to make memorable footprints in support of this important democratic process.
