A delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), led by Brigadier (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, Director of EASF, successfully conducted the verification of Djibouti’s pledged military, police, and civilian capabilities. The exercise, which took place from 5 to 6 November 2024, aimed to assess the readiness and effectiveness of Djibouti’s contributions to regional security within the EASF framework. In his opening speech, Brigadier General Taher Ali Mohamed, Chief of Defense Staff of Djibouti, conveyed the greetings and strong support of Djibouti’s Chief of Defense Staff, Army General Zakaria Cheikh Ibrahim. He emphasized the importance of the verification exercise, noting that it reflects Djibouti's unwavering commitment to regional peace and security.

The event culminated in a tree-planting initiative, where participants planted 50 trees, symbolizing their commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. The closing ceremony featured prominent figures, including Mr. Ali Adan Hassan, Acting Director General of the Ministry of Defence, and Admiral Abdi Warsame Osman, Navy Commander. Mr. Ali Adan welcomed the EASF team, expressing Somalia’s readiness to host future EASF activities and highlighting the crucial role of youth in fostering peace and development in the region.
