Minister Counsellor of Diaspora Affairs at Ethiopian Embassy Calls on EASF Director
The Minister Counsellor of Diaspora Affairs at the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) in Nairobi, Ms. Selam Adam Zerihun, paid a courtesy call on the Director of EASF, Brig Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Faysisa, on 24 October 2022 at the EASF Secretariat in Nairobi. The two sides discussed on the various areas where EASF and the Embassy can work together.
EASF holds Meeting with Friends of EASF
The EASF Management led by the Director, Brig Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa met with the Chair of Friends of EASF, Col. Jens Gynther Lindvig in Nairobi today, 24 October 2022. The EASF Civilian Advisor Mr. Peter Horne Zartsdahl also attended the meeting.
EASF Attends AU Workshop in Benin
The African Union (AU) is conducting a workshop on ‘Enhancing Cooperation and Coordination’ in Cotonou, Benin from 21 to 22 October 2022. Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms (RMs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) are in attendance at the workshop.

EASF Concludes HANDS Plan Operationalization Workshop
The Humanitarian Action and Disaster Support (HANDS) plan operationalization workshop came to conclusion today, 19 October 2022. The workshop developed a legal roadmap for operationalizing a regional HANDS response plan. The closing ceremony was presided over by the head of the EASF Peace Operations Department, Brig Gen Kabissa Domitien.

EASF is conducting a Humanitarian Action and Disaster Support (HANDS) plan legal operationalization workshop at Weston Hotel in Nairobi Kenya. The workshop was opened officially by the EASF Joint Chief of Staff, Maj Gen (PSC) Dr. Osman Mohamed Abbas on 17 October 2022.
EASF Concludes Expert Working Group Meeting
EASF Expert Working Group (EWG) Meeting came to conclusion on 14 October 2022, by finalizing the documents prepared by the EASF Secretariat for approval by Policy Organ Meetings.

EASF Expert Working Group Meeting Underway in Nairobi
EASF has launched its Expert Working Group Meeting (EWGM) at Weston Hotel in Nairobi today, 11 October 2022. The aim of the EWGM is to discuss on and make ready the various draft documents for the Policy Organ Meetings to be conducted in December this year as per EASF’s activity plan for 2022.
EASF Observes International Day of Peace
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) observed the International Day of Peace, today, 21 September 2022 at the African International University (AIU) in Nairobi with a Peace Symposium. The 2022 theme for the International Day of Peace is “End Racism; Build Peace.” The EASF Peace Symposium was attended by students and staff of AIU, the EASF staff as well as students of Hope International School in Nairobi.
EASF Civilian Foundation Course Underway at Rwanda Peace Academy, Musanze
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) launched its first Civilian Foundation Course for 2022 on Monday, 12 September 2022. The opening ceremony was held at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) in Musanze, Rwanda. The course was launched officially by the Director of RPA, Col. Jill Rutaremara, who welcomed EASF at the Rwanda Peace Academy and expressed that it was an honor to host the course.
