EASF Expert Working Group Meeting Underway in Nairobi
EASF has launched its Expert Working Group Meeting (EWGM) at Weston Hotel in Nairobi today, 11 October 2022. The aim of the EWGM is to discuss on and make ready the various draft documents for the Policy Organ Meetings to be conducted in December this year as per EASF’s activity plan for 2022.
EASF Observes International Day of Peace
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) observed the International Day of Peace, today, 21 September 2022 at the African International University (AIU) in Nairobi with a Peace Symposium. The 2022 theme for the International Day of Peace is “End Racism; Build Peace.” The EASF Peace Symposium was attended by students and staff of AIU, the EASF staff as well as students of Hope International School in Nairobi.
EASF Civilian Foundation Course Underway at Rwanda Peace Academy, Musanze
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) launched its first Civilian Foundation Course for 2022 on Monday, 12 September 2022. The opening ceremony was held at the Rwanda Peace Academy (RPA) in Musanze, Rwanda. The course was launched officially by the Director of RPA, Col. Jill Rutaremara, who welcomed EASF at the Rwanda Peace Academy and expressed that it was an honor to host the course.

EASF Concludes IMPC 02-2022
The Integrated Mission Planning Course (IMPC) that was underway since 29 August 2022 in Khartoum, Sudan, came to a successful completion on 8 September 2022. The closing ceremony was attended by the Guest of Honour, Lt Gen. (PSC) Abdoulmahmud Hamad Hussen, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sudanese Defence Forces on behalf of the Chief of Staff and the Minister of Defence.
IMPC Kicks off in Khartoum
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) kicked off the Integrated Mission Planning Course (IMPC) in Khartoum, Sudan, today 29 August 2022. The objective of the course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to plan a multidimensional peace support mission that engages the military, police and civilians.
FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR OUTGOING STAFF
A farewell ceremony was held at EASF Force Headquarters in Addis Ababa on 24 August 2022. The ceremony was organized in honor of the Chief of Operations (G3) from Uganda, Col Sam KIRYA, and the Chief Personnel and Logistics Officer (G1/G4) from Rwanda, Lt Col Sylvestre SEKARAMBA.
Training on ASC Roster and Database Management
A comprehensive training on African Standby Capacity (ASC) Roster and Database Management was conducted successfully at EASF Secretariat in Nairobi, from 15-19 August 2022. A team of experts from the African Union led by Mr. Eustace Chiwombe, Chief of Capability Unit, accompanied by personnel from ACCORD and UNOAU, paid a courtesy call on the Director of EASF, Brigadier General Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa on Monday 15 August 2022. The visit was based on a request by the EASF for training on ASC Roster and Database Management. EASF personnel from the civilian component, ICT section and HR office attended the training, which ran over the course of the week.
EASF Election Mission Preliminary Statement
The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) presented its preliminary statement on the conduct of the General Elections this morning, Thursday 11th August 2022 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Nairobi. EASF deployed an Election Observation Mission (EOM) to the Republic of Kenya at the invitation of the Government.
