EASF Participates in Regional Senior Mission Leadership Course
Some senior officers from the Eastern Africa Standby Force's Member States are taking part in a Regional Senior Mission Leadership Course that was launched at the International Peace Support Training Center
(IPSTC) in Karen, Nairobi, on 23rd November 2020.
Representing EASF during the opening ceremony was the Director, Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa.
The course aims to equip participants with relevant knowledge, skills and attitudes on senior mission leadership that will strengthen their capacity for effective implementation of leadership roles and responsibilities in United Nations (UN) and African Union's (AU) Peace Support Operations (PSOs).
The course participants have a potential to serve in senior leadership positions in a multidimensional and integrated PSO. These leadership positions include, among others, Head of Mission, Special Representatives to Secretary General, Force Commanders, Police Commissioners or Advisors, Sector Commanders, Country Coordinators, Chief Military Observers, Chief of Staff, etc.
The two-weeks course, which comes to a close on 4th December 2020, is fully funded by the Government of the United Kingdom.
