Somalia Chief of Defence Chairs Meeting

The EASF Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff (EACDS) concluded an extraordinary meeting on 17th June 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting which was chaired by Maj Gen Mohamed

Aden Ahmed as Chair, from the Federal Government of the Somali Republic discussed new staffing for EASF structures in support of future deployment. In his opening remarks, Gen Ahmed noted the importance of strengthening the key functions by appointing competent staff as a means to effectively operationalise EASF.

General Mwathethe, Chief of Defence Staff for the host country, Kenya, urged the Chiefs to ensure the discussions were conducted in a manner that would propel the organization forward into the next frontier of peace and security.

Brig Patrick Nderitu, Director of International Peace Support Training Centre (IPSTC) welcomed the Chiefs and expressed gratitude at hosting the meeting at the institution which also serves as a research centre for peace and security matters.

A total of nine Chiefs of Defence and their representatives participated.
