EASF Launches Voluntary Work in Musasa Refugee Camp, Burundi
The Eastern Africa Standby Force has launched the cross border initiative which will include both a youth seminar and community work in a refugee camp in Ngozi, in Burundi. The event was officially opened by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Eastern Africa Community Severin Mbarubukeye. The project will include construction of a basketball court, setting up of a socio economic club, training of peer counselors in the Musasa refugee camp.
The project is part of the EASF’s ongoing effort in engaging with the youth civil society organizations and in reaching out to youth refugees. Youth delegates from EASF member States, youth from Burundi National Council and over 60 young people from the Musasa camp will be involved in the project. According to the youth delegate from Uganda, Shamim Nabadda the project will help her to connect to a special group of young people and will give her the opportunity to contribute to a noble cause.
