EASF Delegation Meets with Kenyan Defense Cabinet Secretary for Regional Security Briefing
Nairobi, Kenya – January 30, 2025 – A high-level delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF), led by Brigadier (Rtd) Paul Kahuria Njema, visited Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Defense, Hon. Soipan Tuya, on Thursday for a crucial familiarization meeting.
During the meeting, Brigadier Njema briefed Hon. Tuya on the current security challenges facing the region, with a particular focus on areas of instability in Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The delegation provided an update on the EASF's ongoing efforts to foster peace, security, and stability across these conflict-prone regions.
"The evolving security situation in the region demands close collaboration and strategic planning," said Brigadier Njema. "EASF is committed to supporting peace initiatives and working alongside regional partners to address these pressing challenges."
Also present at the meeting were Brigadier General Kabisa Domitien, Head of the EASF Peace Operations Department, and Brigadier Samuel Kimani, the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) Chief of Strategic Plans and Policy.
The discussion underscored the importance of continued cooperation between the EASF and Kenyan defense authorities in addressing the complex security dynamics in the Horn of Africa and the broader Eastern Africa region.
The meeting marked a significant step in strengthening regional partnerships and enhancing the collective capacity of the Eastern Africa Standby Force to respond to emerging security threats.
