EASF Launches Mission Planning & Management Section Training
The Eastern Africa Standby Force rolled out a five-day Mission Planning and Management Section (MP & MS) training on 11th March 2019 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi, Kenya.
The training aims to ensure that EASF's Leadership Team within the MP & MS enhances its understanding of its predefined roles and responsibilities. This will boost the overall operational effectiveness of EASF in the event that the Standby Force is tasked by the Eastern Africa Council of Ministers for Defence and Security or the African Union to deploy its forces.
The training was officially opened by the current Chairperson of the Eastern Africa Council of Ministers for Defence and Security, the Burundi Minister for National Defence and War Veterans, Honorable Emmanuel Ntahomvukiye accompanied by the EASF Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh.
On his part, the EASF Director Dr. Bouh thanked the Minister for setting aside time despite his busy schedule to grace the opening of the training. He expressed his regards to the Government of the United Kingdom together with the Nordic Countries for their technical and financial support accorded to EASF over the years.
In his opening speech, Honorable Ntahomvukiye thanked the Government of the United Kingdom together with the Nordic Countries for their continued support to EASF. He assured those present that the upcoming deployment of EASF in the Union of Comoros to monitor Presidential and Gubernatorial elections will be fully funded through the Member States budget line.
The training, which comes to an end on 15th March 2019, is funded by EASF Member States in line with the approved Calendar of Activities 2019.
