EASF Receives New Military Chief of Staff

The EAST African Standby Force welcomed Colonel Abdallah Rafick from the Union of Comoros as its new Military Chief of Staff on Thursday 12th September 2019 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

At the same time, the Standby Force bid farewell to the outgoing Military Chief of Staff, Colonel Jean Marie Barumpishe from the Republic of Burundi who has successfully completed his tour of duty.

Addressing members of staff during the welcoming ceremony, the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh thanked all ten EASF Member States for providing the regional peace-keeper with highly qualified personnel possessing diverse professional traits; these are valuable assets which contribute immensely towards planning and implementation of EASF's activities.

During the same ceremony, the Joint Chief of Staff, Major General (Dr) Charles Rudakabana underscored the importance of teamwork in the multicultural and multidimensional environment under which EASF operates. He attributed EASF's success story to the unwavering contributions from all actors within the entire Standby Force's fraternity.

Colonel Rafick is now the overall in-charge of EASF's Military Component, which, together with the Civilian and Police Components, form the Planing Element (PlanElm).
