EASF Experts Working Group Meeting in Kenya
The Eastern Africa Standby Force Experts Working Group Meeting kicked off on 22nd October 2019, at the EASF Secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya.
The aim of the Experts Working Group Meeting is to review the annual budget of 2020, Crisis Response and Mandating Process Operating Guidelines, Individual and Force Activation Policy and Movement Coordination Policy documents of the organization.
The Director of EASF Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh, informed the Experts that EASF has had an excellent performance in this year with respect to implementation of the approved Activity Plan of 2019. EASF has developed a proposal for 2020 Activity Plan for your discussion and recommendation for the Policy Organs Meeting that scheduled for 2nd to 6th December 2019, in Kampala, Uganda.
Dr. Bouh wished the Experts fruitful deliberations in the meeting and looked forward to an outcome that will be presented to the Committee of Chiefs of Defence Staff and Council of Ministers of Defence and Security of the Eastern African region, in December 2019.
The Chairperson of the Experts Working Group Meeting Brig. Gen. Nduwayo Venuste who is the Chief of Training of Burundi National Defence Force, expressed his appreciation to all EASF Member States for sending the Experts to participate in the meeting also thanked the EASF Secretariat for organizing the meeting.
The Chairperson of the Experts appreciated the EASF Secretariat for an excellent performance in the implementation of Activity Plan 2019. It is our commitment as the experts to support the Secretariat in its endeavour to implement the Activity Plan. We shall look into the proposal for 2020 Activity Plan and make recommendations to the Policy Organs Meeting due in December 2019, he added.
The EASF Experts Working Group Meeting expected to come to the end on Friday 25th of October 2019.
