EASF Director meets Seychelles’ President

The EASF Director, Brigadier General Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa and his delegation was received by the President of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Wavel Ramkalawan, for a courtesy call at State House on Thursday 2nd December, 2021. The President of Seychelles welcomed the EASF Director and his delegation and commended him for the achievements of the organization, highlighing the importance of maintaining peace and security in the region. President Ramkalawan also emphasized on the key role of EASF Member States in matters of peace and security.

“Welcome to our shores and it is my sincere wish that your visit will further solidify our bonds of cooperation. Rest assured of my Government’s unwavering support in consolidating the existing relations,” said President Ramkalawan.

The President also thanked EASF for deploying an election observer mission during the last general elections held in October, 2020. On his part, the EASF Director congratulated the President and people of Seychelles for the peaceful transition of power and for the level of political maturity displayed by the leaders involved in the last elections. ‘’This is indeed an example to the rest of the world" said the Director. The Director also briefed the President and his delegation on the major achievements of EASF and the potential for further engagement with Seychelles especially in the maritime security.
 
The President’s delegation during the meeting included, the Chief of the Seychelles People’s Defence Forces, Brigadier Michael Rosette, the Principal Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Vivianne Fock Tave and Director-General Regional Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Steve Lalande and other officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs in Seychelles.

At the meeting, the EASF Director was accompanied by Head of Administration and Finance Ms. Lina Hoareau, Head of the Peace Operations Department, Brig. Henry Isoke and the Information Manager for EASF and Mr. Jules Hoareau.
