Chairperson, Friends of EASF Briefs New Director

The new Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force Brigadier General Getachew Shiferaw held an introductory meeting with the Chairperson of the Friends of EASF, Colonel Joern Rasmussen on 13th May 2020 at the Secretariat in Karen, Nairobi.

The meeting was also attended by the outgoing Director, Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh and EASF senior members of staff.

During the discussions, Col. Rasmussen congratulated Brig. Gen. Shiferaw on his new appointment and described the strong relationship which has been existing among EASF, the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark and Friends of EASF for more than 10 years. Specifically, the Government of the Kingdom of Denmark has been working with EASF since 2005 providing technical advisory services, capacity building initiatives and financial support.

Col. Rasmussen assured the new Director that this collaboration will continue under his leadership, aiming at bringing peace, security and stability in the Eastern Africa region.

Brig. Gen. Shiferaw thanked Dr. Bouh for his tremendous contributions in building lasting partnerships focused on supporting peace building intiatives.

Friends of EASF is an umbrella body comprising more than twenty economically advanced countries, which teamed up to support EASF in matters of peace and security many years ago.
