EASF Election Observer Mission to Comoros

The EASF announces the arrival of its Election Observer Mission (EOM) in the Union of Comoros, The EASF advance team met with the AU Head of Mission at the Golden Tulip Hotel on January 11, 2024.

The leadership team of the EOM includes the former Burundian President, H.E. Ntibatunganya Sylvestre, and H.E Bernard Makuza, former Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda as the Head of Mission. Twenty Three (23) Observers from Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya and Uganda will be deployed on Moheli, Anjouan and Moroni. The EASF-EOM assessment will be based on relevant provisions of the AU African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance other relevant international instruments on election observation as well as national legal framework governing elections in the Union of Comoros. EASF calls on all candidates and political leaders to maintain respect and tolerance throughout the election process and on voters to exercise their civic duty peacefully.
