Sudanese Minister for Defence Signs an MoU with EASF Director

The Chairperson of EASF Council of Ministers for Defence and Security, who is also the Minister for Defence of the Republic of the Sudan Lt. Gen. Ali Mohamed Salem held crucial talks with the EASF Director Dr. Abdillahi Omar Bouh in Khartoum on Sunday 19th November 2017.

The meeting aim was to facilitate the signing a Memorandum of Understanding on the Status of Forces' Agreement between the Host Nation (Sudan) and EASF Secretariat who will be participating in the upcoming Field Training Exercise (FTX) 2017. The successful conclusion of the exercise will be an indicator of another important milestone for the regional peacekeeper in capacity building; an important facet in addressing challenges in the Eastern African region.

The two leaders reflected on a number of strategic issues and also deliberated on the schedule and agenda of the next Policy Organs' Meeting.
 
Lt. Gen. Salem reassured the meeting that Sudan was well prepared support the exercise in any way possible. Dr. Bouh thanked the Government of the Republic of the Sudan for providing the teams involved with a conducive environment as well as vast resources during the entire planning of FTX 2017 in the country.

Lt. Gen. Yahya Mohamed Khair, the Sudan Army Deputy Chief of Staff was also present during the meeting.

The Director EASF was accompanied by Col (Dr. Acc) Mohammed Shumo (Internal Auditor), Lt Col David Okello (Legal Advisor) and Lt Col David Chesire (Military Assistant).
