Responding to Terror Attacks in Kampala, Uganda

Following the terror attacks reported near Parliament Buildings and Central Police Station in Kampala, Uganda, the Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) would like to issue the following statement.
The EASF strongly condemns the cowardly acts perpetrated on innocent citizens in these twin suicide attacks. The entire EASF fraternity offers its heartfelt condolences to all the families and friends of those killed in the attacks and wishes speedy recovery to those injured. EASF joins the rest of the region and the world in offering our support to, and solidarity with the Government of the Republic of Uganda and its people in this difficult hour.
Peace and security in the Eastern Africa region is of importance to EASF and today, in the background of this tragic event, the Standby Force once again calls on everyone to denounce all forms of violence and conflict and to promote peace and security in the region. EASF salutes the efforts of the law enforcement and national security agencies for their swift response to these attacks.
Once again, the Eastern Africa Standby Force would like to reiterate its support to and solidarity with the people and Government of Uganda. Unity against all forms of terror and violence will boost the region’s resolve to forge ahead for peace and security in the region.
