A delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force's top leadership held consultative talks with the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Defence, Amb. Dr. Monica Juma, at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, on 30th June 2021.

The EASF leadership, led by the Director Brig. Gen. Getachew Shiferaw Fayisa, comprised the Head of Administration and Finance Ms. Lina Peggy Hoareau, the Head of Peace Operations' Department Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, the Force Commander Brig. Gen. Vincent Gatama and the Military Assistant Lt. Col. Boniface Chomba.

EASF has the mandate to maintain and enhance its Full Operational Capability (FOC) which it acquired in December 2014 through consistent training. At the end of 2021, EASF intends to roll out a multinational and multidimensional Command Post Exercise (CPX) which will benchmark the Standby Force's readiness to accomplish a peace mission.

On behalf of the delegation, Director Brig. Gen. Fayisa expressed his sincere appreciation to the Ministry of Defence as well as the Government of Kenya for the support they have been according EASF over the years. This support has been essential in maintaining peace within the region.
